Los Angeles, CA (June 2023) – We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) to launch the LA County Financial Coaching Program. The Financial Coaching Program will provide grants of $12,000 to eligible non-profit providers who complete the County-sponsored financial coaching training program and become certified financial coaches
Driving Economic Recovery and Resiliency
The LA County Financial Coaching Program focuses on serving historically underserved and hard-to-reach populations, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPoC) residing in areas disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. By establishing a concrete network of financial ambassadors, LA County aims to address the specific needs of these communities and provide vital support in overcoming financial challenges. The program strives to create an inclusive and equitable financial coaching ecosystem.
Collaboration with FORWARD
To ensure the program’s smooth implementation and efficient use of resources, the Los Angeles County DCBA has partnered with FORWARD, a leading integrated program administration solution for local governments. FORWARD is provided comprehensive program administration services which includes an online application portal, available in 68 languages, and multilingual support via phone, text, and email make the application process accessible and convenient for all. FORWARD will also work with eligible nonprofit providers who become certified financial coaches to deliver financial empowerment resources to communities and measure the impact of the program.
Eligibility Criteria and Support
The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) selected FORWARD as a partner to receive applications through a secure online portal, complete a thorough review of the applications, and approve eligible recipients.
- Be associated with an approved non-profit organization that offers services in the targeted communities
- Apply through FORWARD’s online application portal, available in 68 languages
- Access to application support available in multiple languages via phone, text, and email
- Complete virtual training sessions and related assignments
- Conduct financial coaching sessions with community members
- Track the impact of financial empowerment services within their communities
