What is the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF)?

The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) is a new program created by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The GGRF will provide $27 billion in funding to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants. The GGRF will be implemented through three grant competitions:

General and Low-Income Assistance Competition:

This competition will provide $20 billion in funding to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants in all communities, with an emphasis on projects that benefit low-income and disadvantaged communities.

National Clean Investment Fund Competition:

This competition will provide $5 billion in funding to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants in communities that have been disproportionately impacted by climate change.

Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act Competition:

This competition will provide $2 billion in funding to support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants from water infrastructure.

The GGRF is a significant investment in the fight against climate change. The program will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and create jobs. The GGRF is also a major step forward in the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to environmental justice. The program will help to ensure that all communities benefit from the transition to a clean energy economy.

Here are some of the key benefits of the GGRF:

Reduces greenhouse gas emissions: The GGRF will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which are a major contributor to climate change.

Improves air quality: The GGRF will help to improve air quality, which can improve public health and reduce the number of premature deaths.

Creates jobs: The GGRF will create jobs in the clean energy sector, which is a growing industry.

Advances environmental justice: The GGRF will help to ensure that all communities benefit from the transition to a clean energy economy.
